Fairview will shine even brighter this holiday season, thanks to a special event at Bowie Nature Park.

Billed as “Fairview’s first Christmas lights drive thru,” the Holiday Wonders at Bowie Park light show “is an immersive drive-through light, video, laser, and sound show. The show is an ELS production in partnership with the City of Fairview. ELS, short for Extreme Lighting and Sound, is owned and operated by Nashville-based Austin Grundberg and his dad, Glenn Grundberg.

The idea for a drive thru holiday light show was proposed in late Summer.

“ELS presented this idea to the city in August,” said Fairview City Administrator Scott Collins. “This has been ‘in the works’ since September.”

Behind the scenes, Holiday Wonders utilizes over eight miles of cable, 100 professional moving lights, 91,648 channels of control, six computers, and 28 minutes of music. 25,000 smart pixels provide animation effects for the show. According to ELS owner Austin Grundberg, “Prep and programming took over 1,000 hours, including over 250 hours of animation. The setup took eight guys two weeks to complete.

The event will run Thursday through Sunday nights, rain or shine, from 6 to 9 p.m. weekly until Jan. 9 at Fairview’s Bowie Nature Park. Heavy weather may affect the availability of certain show features.

“The event, so far, has been what we expected,” Collins said. “It is a nice event for the City of Fairview, and it has been well received by the community.”

Tickets for the event are $25 per vehicle (plus tax) with 10% of sales going to the City. Discounted tickets ($15) will be available at the event for active duty and retired military, law enforcement, and first responders with a valid ID, one ticket per ID.

Tickets can be purchased at Fairview City Hall, at the gate, or online at www.elsnashville.com/pages/holidaywonders.
