Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has spoken exclusively to Digital Spy about Warren Fox's big storyline with newcomer Felix Westwood.

As first revealed by us last month, show bosses have cast former EastEnders star Richard Blackwood in the role of Felix, who's the father of Mitchell Deveraux and Toby Faroe.

Felix also shares a complicated backstory with Warren, as they lived in the same children's home when they were younger.

Viewers have already seen Warren open up about how he was bullied by another child in the home, which ultimately had a big impact on how his life progressed.

In a new chat with Digital Spy, Jamie explained: "Richard has come in and our characters accidentally bump into each other in the village. It all comes flooding back for Warren.

"What I can tell you is that Richard's character Felix is a very big part of Warren's past. He's one of the reasons why Warren is the way he is today.

"That's going to be explored and there's going to be some fireworks there, I can imagine! Richard is a good guy, great to work with and I'm just hoping that there's some juicy stuff coming up – there is so far!

"I think the storyline is going to run on for quite a while, so I'm excited about that."

Asked whether Warren is a match for Felix if they go head-to-head, Jamie replied: "That I can't tell you! I think it'd be interesting to see a vulnerable side to Warren.

"But there's also going to be a story where they have something in common and they kind of bond with each other. You'll have to wait and see what goes on with that, but it's exciting."

In a recent interview on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Richard promised that Hollyoaks will explore a complicated backstory for Felix.

"He's a dark character," Richard explained. "You'll find through the story there's things that have happened that conditioned him to be the way that he is. He's a bit desensitised from emotion in that sense. When he interacts with people, you can see that.

"You've got to play the truth of why they became that way. What Hollyoaks has done, which I think is beautiful, is they've gone into the history of why he has become that way."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
