Exclusive: Hollyoaks star David Tag on Sylver McQueen's secret daughter twist

Hollyoaks star David Tag has revealed more details of Sylver McQueen's secret daughter twist.
Show bosses shocked fans last month with the big news that Sylver's long-lost daughter Cher McQueen had been cast, with newcomer Bethany Hare taking on the role.
Earlier this week, Hollyoaks' latest E4 first look episode saw Cher make her debut as she arrived in the village in the hope of meeting her father.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about the big twist, David explained: "I knew this was coming about a month or two before Bethany arrived on set. It's quite a privilege that they've given me this storyline and given Sylver a child.

"To me, it shows that they want me to carry on playing Sylver for a while, fingers crossed! It was an honour to hear that this would happen.
"Cher is a feisty character – she's a true McQueen. She's sassy and loves a good confrontation. You wouldn't really want to get on the wrong side of her and that comes across in her first few scenes.
"But like every McQueen, she has an emotional and vulnerable side too."

Asked whether Cher will clash with new stepmum Mercedes, David replied: "I think Cher's similarities to Mercedes will bring them closer to each other. Because she's Sylver's daughter, Mercedes will take on that responsibility and treat Cher as her own.
"I think they might clash in certain aspects, but on the whole they'll get on really well.
"Sylver will also be a good dad. His personality is that he's very paternal and he loves to take on responsibility for his work and family. I think he's going to embrace Cher and she'll be another person for him to care for.
"Bethany has been amazing to work with. It's her first big acting job and she was very keen to impress. On set, she is so good with her lines and really confident. It's like she's been acting for years and she's very professional. She's going to be great to work with in the future."

Hollyoaks' cast and crew were hard at work on this storyline before filming was paused in March.
David confirmed: "Just before lockdown, we finished the block of episodes where Cher arrived. The relationship between Cher and Sylver will have already been established by the end of that week.
"After that, I'm not sure what's to come because we haven't filmed anything else for this storyline!"
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm on E4.
