Everything to Know About 'The Bear' Season 3

The Bear Season 3 is pretty much guaranteed thanks to the universal acclaim for its first and second seasons, but no official announcements have been made as to its renewal.

The FX/Hulu series is a fictional look at the inner workings of a chaotic Chicago eatery and its beloved staff, led by Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), who is reeling from his brother's death by suicide and his dysfunctional upbringing, and the overachieving Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), who is still processing the death of her mother and trying to convince her father (Robert Townsend) that The Bear will survive.

The Bear is a tense, dramatic and often darkly hilarious look not just at restaurants and their workers, but at mental health (especially anxiety), addiction and trauma, and the effects of each on families and relationships, and the episodes are short enough to make it a great weekend binge-watch if you haven't indulged yet.

There was a one-year gap between The Bear Season 1 and Season 2, but thanks to studios refusing to bow to the WGA writers' strike and a looming SAG-AFTRA actors' strike, we may have to wait longer for a third installment.

The Bear Season 3 cast hasn't been announced, but we expect it to include cast regulars:

Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto

Obviously, Jeremy Allen White—who won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and a Critics Choice Award and was nominated for an Emmy for Season 1—will be back as tortured, talented chef Carmy.

Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu

Ayo Edebiri snagged an Emmy nod for Season 1 for her role of Sydney, Carmy's right-hand and the person who basically keeps the restaurant running.

Nepo baby Abby Elliott will return as Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, Carmy's sister and a project management mastermind.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard "Cousin Richie" Jerimovich

Ebon Moss-Bachrach will return as Cousin Richie, who went from a complete mess to one helluva manager in Season 2.

Lionel Boyce as Marcus

Lionel Boyce will return as Marcus, and we're dying to see what happens between him and Sydney. We ship it!

Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina

Liza Colón-Zayas is expected to return as Tina, and we really hope we get to hear her sing again.

Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim

Edwin Lee Gibson will return as Ebraheim, now a culinary school graduate.

Corey Hendrix as Gary "Sweeps" Woods

Corey Hendrix will be back to subtly steal his scenes as Gary "Sweeps" Woods.

Matty Matheson as Neil Fak

Matty Matheson will return as Neil Fak, the most lovable handyman on TV since Al Borland.

Richard Esteras as Manny

Richard  Esteras is likely to be back as Manny.

Chris Witaske as Pete

Chris Witaske will likely be back as Pete, especially after the events of his and Sugar's relationship in Season 2.

Jose M. Cervantes as Angel

Jose M. Cervantes' aptly named Angel will be back in the kitchen for Season 3.

Jon Bernthal as Michael "Mikey" Berzatto

Chances are we'll see more flashbacks of Jon Bernthal as Mikey Berzatto, Carmy and Sugar's beloved late brother and original owner of The Beef.

Depending on how the storyline in Season 3 shakes out, we will probably also see:

Oliver Platt as Cicero/Uncle Jimmy

Oliver Platt scored an Outstanding Guest Star Emmy nomination for The Bear Season 1 and will likely be back for more in Season 3.

Joel McHale as a New York City chef

Joel McHale will likely pop up in another flashback cameo as the New York City chef who berated Carmy, then his underling, in the past.

Molly Ringwald as Al-Anon Moderator

Molly Ringwald surprised with a cameo as an Al-Anon moderator. Depending on Carmy's arc for Season 3, we may see the Brat Pack alum again.

We may also see cameos and guest appearances from these stars, who debuted in Season 2:

Molly Gordon as Claire

Molly Gordon was moving as Carmy's almost-girlfriend Claire. While they seemed star-crossed in Season 2, we're really hoping they can work it out.

For her part, Gordon was glad Claire walked away.

"To hear someone say that they don’t deserve happiness, or deserve to give happiness, is a horrific statement," she told The Hollywood Reporter, adding, "I’ve stayed in relationships and tried to fix someone like that. So I was happy that Claire just leaves. She doesn’t go, 'Oh wait, is that actually how you feel?' She just chooses to leave the situation."

Jamie Lee Curtis as Donna Berzatto

Jamie Lee Curtis was unforgettable as Carmy, Sugar and Mikey's mom, Donna, making her debut in the episode "Fishes" and reappearing at The Bear's friends-and-family night in Season 2, Episode 10.

Robert Townsend as Emmanuel Adamu

Parent 'Hood star Robert Townsend had a moving turn as Sydney's father Emmanuel in Season 2, and we hope to see more of their dynamic in Season 3.

Gillian Jacobs as Tiffany Jerimovich

Gillian Jacobs stunned as Cousin Richie's ex, Tiffany, in Season 2. Like Curtis, she first appeared in "Fishes."

Bob Odenkirk as Uncle Lee

Bob Odenkirk played a key role in "Fishes," and we need more of him. In everything. Always. He told Deadline that guest-starring as Uncle Lee was "the greatest experience" since Better Call Saul, so hopefully he'll get to reprise the role for Season 3 as well.

Sarah Paulson as Cousin Michelle

Sarah Paulson's Cousin Michelle was one of the few characters to make Carmy feel seen in "Fishes."

John Mulaney as Stevie

John Mulaney had a memorable guest role in "Fishes" as Cousin Michelle's earnest plus-one.

Likely not to return? Will Poulter as Chef Luca and Olivia Colman as Chef Terry, whose characters served to train the chefs and cooks in Season 2 ahead of The Bear's opening. Also likely not returning is Saturday Night Live alum Alex Moffatt as Josh, who was fired during friends-and-family night in the Season 2 finale.

How many episodes is The Bear Season 3?

No episode count has been announced yet for The Bear Season 3. Season 1 had eight episodes and Season 2 had 10 episodes, so we can likely expect Season 3 to have about the same range.
