Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School hires first football head coach
Former Park Vista football head coach Brandon Walker revealed he would have a position at another school when he stepped away from the Cobras in March.
That new role is the first head football coach at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High.
Walker, along with current Park Vista athletic director Pam Romero, will make the move to the new Lake Worth school to be two of the first members of the freshly-founded school’s athletic department.
Taking over after the controversial exit of Leonard Weaver III, Walker went 2-8 in his lone season with the Cobras. One of the bright spots in his tenure was a 21-18 victory over undefeated Santaluces in the penultimate game of the 2022 regular season.
Before Park Vista, Walker served Boca Raton High as athletic director, stepping into the role after two seasons as head coach of the Bobcat football program. Walker compiled a 13-8 record over two seasons.

Walker’s first head coaching job came at Somerset Academy-Pembroke Pines in 2010. The American Heritage-Plantation alum eventually made his way to Cooper City High, where he coached for five years, mounting a 23-28 record with a regional quarterfinal appearance in 2016.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School is Palm Beach County's first new public high school in 20 years and will service the western Lake Worth community. It will open in fall 2023.
