Remember Grimace? The purple, fluffy member of the McDonald's character crew debuted in 1971 and is apparently celebrating his 52nd birthday this month.
To mark the milestone, McDonald's released a limited-edition Grimace Birthday Meal this week, which includes a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, French fries and a mysterious purple milkshake.
In a press release, McDonald's said the shake is "inspired by Grimace’s iconic color and sweetness," but kept customers guessing on what the dessert beverage actually tastes like.
We set out to determine the flavor of the Grimace milkshake. Here's what we learned.

What does the Grimace milkshake taste like?
The Grimace milkshake is bright purple and served with whipped cream. The shake's super-creamy consistency held up, even after a 20-minute drive and an hour in the refrigerator.
As for flavor, one out of our five tasters said the shake tasted like vanilla, while the rest agreed it had a berry flavor.
But, which berry? That had the group split. Two of us said the shake had a strong blueberry taste, while the other two testers created a whole new term to describe the flavor.
