Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Finished Its Renovation of Cinderella’s Castle Just in Time for Re-Opening
In February, Disney World announced that in honor of the 70th anniversary of the animated film Cinderella, her iconic castle wound undergo a magical transformation. Naturally, we were teeming with excitement, but as we already know, the parks were forced to close the following month in March due to COVID-19. This left a lot of questions up in the air and the project slipped our minds.

On July 11, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, will reopen to the public. However, in order to test out its new safety protocols, Disney cast members were granted access a few days early. Somehow, in the midst of a nightmare pandemic, Magic Kingdom managed to work that Disney magic and finish its royal upgrade of Cinderella's Castle.
Whether it was Cindrella's Fairy Godmother, or just some very dedicated Disney employees (bless you!), Cinderella's Castle stands more vibrant than ever. While there appears to be no architectural changes to the design, the castle received a stunning color alteration which features rich shades of blush, navy, and gold to replace its former blue and gray tones. Truth be told, Cinderella's Castle has never looked so lively!

As you may recall, Cinderella went through a pretty magical and bold transformation herself in her story. This castle’s transformation definitely followed suit. Jason Kirk, the vice president of Magic Kingdom Park even noted in a Disney Parks Blog post in February that this "bold, shimmering, and royal makeover" would be inspired by her story of courage and kindness.
While it was never announced when this renovation would occur, we definitely didn't expect it to be ready for Magic Kingdom's reopening. Here's a photo of the old Magic Kingdom to jog your memory!
