Devyn Robinson, Carter Booth have hot hands for Wisconsin volleyball in Big Ten opener
The Wisconsin volleyball team opened Big Ten play in impressive fashion Friday night.
Senior Devyn Robinson and sophomore Carter Booth led the Badgers to a sweep of Northwestern in front of 4,889 people at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 victory improved the nation’s No. 1 team to 10-0 and extended its Big Ten winning streak to 19 matches.
UW hit a season-high .367 for the match while holding the Wildcats (6-5) to .079, the second-lowest percentage for a Badgers opponent this season. UW also served eight aces.

Robinson finished with 11 kills, a .556 hitting percentage and three blocks. Booth had eight kills, hit . 667 and had six blocks. Junior Sarah Franklin added nine kills.
Graduate student izzy Ashburn posted her sixth double-double of the season (17 assists, 13 digs) while senior MJ Hammill added 12 assists and a .542 set percentage.
"Defensively, I thought we were fantastic,” UW coach Kelly Sheffield said. “We haven't been able to put back-to-back practices together in a few weeks. I think an element of that has shown in our match play. This week we were able to put two really good defensive practices out there and that showed… we were pursuing balls, we were balanced. We got great block touches."
Next the Badgers face Indiana (11-3) in their Big Ten home opener at 1 p.m. Sunday.
