Detroit Lions HBO 'Hard Knocks' 2022: Best Fan Tweets from Episode 4
The fourth (and penultimate) episode of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions aired Tuesday. It showed events leading up to (and including) the Lions' 19-9 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Lions, who are led by general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell, have come off quite favorably in this series. Although they are trying to rebound from a 3-13-1 season, Detroit appears to be a tight-knit group with a great attitude and sky-high team chemistry.
Campbell is also clearly a players' coach and will do or say pretty much anything to get his guys going. During this week, he decided on a player-run practice one day.
Most coaches prepared for the upcoming preseason matchup with the Steelers. Campbell was out on the field, but the players ran the show with defensive back Tracy Walker III running a drill.
Wideout Josh Reynolds commented on it at the time:
Others on Twitter had positive reactions.
This episode also included the revelation that Campbell kept the racing helmet he wore to a June 2021 press conference after being named the grand marshal of IndyCar's Detroit Grand Prix:
Lions quarterback Jared Goff got some significant airtime here as part of the work he's doing in the Detroit community:
Goff, who also shined during practice this week, got credit for his community work.
The Lions may have lost the Steelers game, but backup quarterback David Blough provided a highlight with a five-yard shovel touchdown pass to Quintez Cephus.
Blough has gotten his airtime this year, and some folks are big fans of him.
The final Lions episode will air Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on HBO, and it will cover the Lions' cutdowns to the 53-man roster. All episodes can be streamed on HBO Max.
