NIL DEAL: Jackson State QB Shedeur Sanders becomes first HBCU player to sign NIL deal with Gatorade
Shedeur, who will be a sophomore quarterback, was named FCS freshman of the year as he led Jackson State to its first SWAC title since 2007. Shilo, who will be a junior defensive back, led the Tigers in interceptions. Deion Sanders was named FCS coach of the year after guiding Jackson State to its first appearance in the Celebration bowl, the de facto HBCU national championship game.
The Lady Tigers (16-6, 14-0 SWAC) are riding a 14 game winning streak. They're four wins away from closing out the regular-season with a perfect conference record. They'll likely be a top seed heading into the SWAC Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama, which begins on March 9.
