  • Dean Unglert thanked girlfriend Caelynn Miller-Keyes for taking care of him after a skiing accident in Switzerland.

  • Dean’s injuries left him in the hospital for five days.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for Dean Unglert, unfortunately. After traveling with his girlfriend, Caelynn Miller-Keyes, to Switzerland for a festive, snow-filled trip around Christmas, he was left hospitalized. If you missed this bit of news while you were living it up during the holidays, I totally don’t blame you.

Here’s what happened: The Bachelor alum went to the Swiss Alps to do some skiing—you know, just adventurer things! But while on the slopes, Dean lost control and took a dangerous fall, which left him with a dislocated hip and a fractured femur.

“All my life I’ve dreamt about skiing the Swiss Alps. How could you not? They’re huge and beautiful and have some of the best snow in the world. Today, however, was not my day. I was sending just a liiiiittle too hard and took a nasty spill which ultimately put me here,” he wrote under a pic of him in a hospital bed.

“The Swiss Mountain rescue blew my mind today. It took me about an hour to flag someone down for help but once I did, I was airborne and in surgery in less than an hour,” he continued. “A dislocated hip and fractured femur put 4 screws and a plate in my leg but things could have been so much worse and for that I am extremely grateful! Looks like I’ll be celebrating xmas in a hospital bed this year 😂”

Now, fast forward three weeks later, and Dean is back in the States with Caelynn. On Instagram, he said that Caelynn has been his primary caretaker while he was healing and took time to shout her out for it—how sweet!

“Back in the States after an unfortunate turn of events in Europe. It would have been a whole lot worse without my primary caretaker there to change my smelly socks, carry my luggage, and keep me entertained," he wrote. “Thank you for everything you’ve already done and for everything you still unwittingly have to do @caelynnmillerkeyes.”

Since then, Dean has continued his travels with Caelynn but now uses a pair of crutches to help him get around. Here’s to hoping he heals up!
