CVG: 'Security breach' leads to passengers being rescreened
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport had a "security breach" Friday evening, the airport said in a tweet.
As a result of the incident, all CVG passengers had to be rescreened, the tweet states. At 8:23 p.m., the airport reported it had resumed normal operations.
The incident was a perimeter security breach, a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson said, adding that as a precautionary measure, the terminal was cleared, TSA's checkpoint was shut down and a ground stop was issued.
A ground stop is "a process that requires aircraft that meet a specific criteria to remain on the ground," according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Once the ground stop was lifted, TSA's checkpoint reopened and passengers were rescreened, the administration's spokesperson said.
TSA referred questions about the law enforcement response to CVG. The Enquirer has reached out to an airport spokesperson and will update this story as more information becomes available.
Due to an earlier security breach, all passengers at CVG were rescreened this evening. Normal operations are now resuming.
