Warning: Coronation Street spoilers ahead.

Coronation Street's Asha and her intimate video storyline take a dark turn when Dev goes to the police to report those responsible for posting the video of her stripping for boyfriend Corey online.

Today's (April 24) episode sees Dev report the publishing of the video to the police, even though Asha begged him not to. After discovering that the video had made its way on to the internet, Dev breaks his word and heads straight to the police station to report schoolkids Corey and Kelly.

The police tell Dev that it was an illegal act to record and distribute video, and he is relieved, letting himself hope that the culprits – or "filth", as he calls them – will be punished.

However, the good news is short-lived when the police go on to advise that they aren't able to arrest anyone at this time, because "it's not that simple". Technically, Asha broke the law as much as the others by being involved in the video itself.

Dev protests that it was private, and that Corey was recording her "without her knowledge". The police inform him that because she "chose" to undress, this complicates matters.

He begins to fall apart, insisting that Asha is "just a child", but is reminded by the police that so are the other people involved. At this point he stresses that his daughter's "entire life might be ruined".

They advise that they will need to question Asha, and then Corey and Kelly, before things can be taken any further.

When Dev asks if the police can take down the video and the website it's on, he's told that the police "don't have that sort of power", and is instead referred to a charity that may be able to help. Crushed, Dev is left asking the police officers: "So we're on our own?"

Asha is later furious to discover that Dev went back on his word, after promising he wouldn't report her ordeal to the police.

These Coronation Street scenes air tonight (April 24) on ITV.
