The Coronado volleyball team saw its season come to an end Tuesday in the Class 6A regional quarterfinals to Keller.

The Thunderbirds lost 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 at Odessa Permian High School. Keller advances to the Region 1-6A Tournament.

Coronado finished third in District 1-6A behind Eastlake and Franklin before defeating Wolfforth Frenship and Keller Timber Creek in the playoffs.

The Thunderbirds were seeking their first trip to the regional tournament since 2018.

"Keller is a very good team and I wouldn't be surprised if they win the region," Coronado coach Raul Lawrence said. "Keller is big and had kids who were 6-3, 6-4. They had a really good setter as well and it was a learning experience for us. We'll grow from this."

Coronado was shorthanded in the match as one of its top hitters, Ashlee Macias, battled an abdominal strain and saw limited playing time.
