Controversial Franklin Alderman Gabrielle Hanson running for mayor
Alderman Gabrielle Hanson is running for Franklin mayor.
The controversial elected official filed her candidacy paperwork with the Williamson County Election Commission on Thursday.
She will face incumbent Mayor Ken Moore in the Oct. 24 election.
Hanson this year has been at the forefront of a public square worship debate, later stated her unfounded belief in a possible Covenant School shooting cover-up and is now set to appear before the city's Ethics Commission after she criticized the Nashville Airport CEO for donating to a Juneteenth event organized by the Franklin Justice and Equity Coalition.
Hanson’s possible run for mayor leaked out last week when one of her campaign signs appeared in a Franklin neighborhood. She has also launched a campaign website.
Hanson moved to Franklin in 2012. She is the principal broker and owner of Williamson Real Estate.
Hanson served as political coordinator to Jack Johnson with the Tennessee Realtors and is also on the Tennessee Realtors Government Affairs Committee. She serves with Sister Cities International of Franklin.
She is an active member of Grace Church and is a home school mother to her teenage daughter.
Her husband, Tom, is in commercial real estate.
