"I want again to thank you for your negotiations in being able to arrive at the budgeted amount," Trustee Jaime Arredondo said to district construction project manager John Dibala at the meeting. "I think that deserves a lot of accolade in reference to being good stewards of our money and making sure our schools came within budget."

The board also approved Monday a guaranteed maximum price of nearly $12 million with construction manager-at-risk Weaver and Jacobs Constructors for an addition at Allen Elementary School.

The projects are included in a $220 million bond approved by voters last year. Also included are additional gymnasiums at Driscoll Middle School and Adkins Middle School, each priced at about $6.45 million.

The bond budgeted for total project costs of $88.1 million for Hamlin Middle School, $90.3 million for the new southeast middle school and $13 million for Allen Elementary School.
