Colts owner Jim Irsay adds Muhammad Ali's historic 1965 robe to collection
Jim Irsay has added another historic piece of memorabilia to his growing collection. The Colts owner bought the workout robe used by boxing great Muhammad Ali in his first match after changing his name from Cassius Clay.
Just added to @IrsayCollection —-Muhammad Ali’s walkout robe from his 1965 rematch with Sonny Liston. When he wore the robe – which boasts “MUHAMMAD ALI” in bright red – it was the first time he appeared in the ring wearing the name that soon would be known around the world!👍❤️

Ali joined the Nation of Islam and changed his name in 1964. Prior to his match on May 25, 1965, he wore a robe with his new name on the back. He won his match against Sonny Liston in Lewiston, Maine.
Colts owner Jim Irsay's late-night Tweet: 'You need a QB and offense who can score 30 or more'
More: Jim Irsay used to be an absolutely jacked power lifter. He has video to prove it.
“Muhammad Ali was not only one of the greatest athletes the world has ever known, but he also was a trailblazer for so many across our country and world,” said Jim Irsay, Owner & CEO of the Indianapolis Colts. “Anything used in the ring by ‘The Greatest’ is special. But this robe represents a pivotal moment in his career when he was criticized for standing up for religious freedom and against racism and bigotry. I can’t think of anything more important then or today, and I’m proud to add this piece to my collection.”
Irsay's collection also includes Ali’s shoes from the 1975 “Thrilla’ in Manilla” vs. Joe Frazier.
