Colon clobbers Athens, 75-26
The Colon Magi won comfortably at Athens on Thursday.
The Magi’s road victory came by way of a 75-26 final.
Colon poured in at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters, providing a lengthy distance between them and Athens.
Colon’s opening quarter saw them post 20 points. Dalton Williams connected for 12 points in the opening eight minutes, including hitting a pair of 3-pointers.
Athens posted just six points in the opening quarter and trailed 20-6 after eight minutes.
In the second, Colon held Athens to just five points.
The Magi got 14 points from Simon Vinson in the second stanza. He connected for six shots in the second, plus hit a couple of free throws. Justin Wickey, Nic Mock and Williams each hit for a shot in the second quarter as well.
Colon’s lead at halftime was 41-11.
In the third, it was Wickey’s turn to have an offensive standout quarter. He scored on five shots for 10 points as the Magi scored 21 third-quarter points. Williams hit for five points, Vinson added four more and Colon led 62-17 after three quarters. The 45-point lead implemented the running clock in the fourth quarter.
During the final eight minutes, Colon still found a way to score 13 points. Mick scored four points to lead the way.Vinson led Colon with 26 points, Williams made 19 points and Wickey scored 14 points.
Mock added six points, both Connor Hetman and Maverick Downs connected for four points each. Kyle Muntian also hit for two points in the game.
Vinson finished with 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals for the game. Wickey handed out seven assists with four steals and four rebounds, Williams also handed out seven helpers with five steals. Downs swiped seven steals in the game with five assists and four rebounds for Colon.
Colon was 5-of-12 from the foul line, Athens made just 1-of-4 free throws. Colon is now 5-3 overall and on a two-game win streak. The Magi next take to the floor on Monday against Burr Oak.
