Window Washer Dies After Falling 'Several Stories' from High-Rise Office Tower in Boston
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Boston Police spokesperson
A window washer died Monday after falling from a 32-story office building in Boston’s financial district.
Police responded to 100 Summer Street around 8 a.m. local time after receiving a report about a worker who “fell several stories to the ground,” Boston Police spokesperson Jason Villanueva says in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesperson adds.
“It appears to be an accident,” Villanueva told The Boston Globe.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for 100 Summer said the individual was a “window cleaning service provider” at the building.
“We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the individual’s family and loved ones,” the spokesperson adds.

Erected in 1974, 100 Summer is one of the tallest in all of Boston, according to its website. The office building hosts "a diverse mix of small technology start-ups, international corporations, and everything in between."
The tower's "distinctive bronze tinted windows" help create what they describe as "a lavish glowing effect in the sunlight."

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, according to the BPD spokesperson. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The spokesperson for 100 Summer says, “We are actively supporting the local authorities in their investigation of the incident, which remains ongoing."
