Taco Bell Bringing Back Three Iconic Menu Items from the '90s

Taco Bell reintroduces the Volcano Menu, which will be available starting this summer.

Taco Bell's menu is getting a blast from the past.

The Volcano Menu, which was initially introduced in 1995, makes its return featuring the Volcano Burrito and Volcano Taco. There will also be the option of adding Lava Sauce, a spicy nacho cheese sauce.

The Volcano Menu's comeback unfortunately isn't permanent, though. It'll be available for Taco Bell Rewards members beginning on June 27, and appearing at participating US Taco Bell locations starting June 29, until an undisclosed date.

The Volcano Menu was initially introduced with the Volcano Burrito, which was a limited-run promotional item for the movie Congo. At the time, Taco Bell promoted it as "the spiciest burrito ever." The Volcano Menu was re-introduced in May 2009, including the Volcano Taco, until being discontinued in August 2013.

Taco Bell fans had been waiting for the Volcano Menu's return since its run ended. Some even went as far as creating a petition, asking for it to be back on the menu.

Besides the reintroduction of the Volcano Menu, Taco Bell is also adding two old fan-favorites to its menu: the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito and the Bacon Club Chalupa.

There are also two brand new items heading to select Taco Bell locations. The Cheesy Chicken Crispanada will be available in Knoxville, Tennessee for a limited time. It's an empanada stuffed with shredded chicken and cheese, with a side of spicy ranch. Meanwhile, Birmingham, Alabama is getting the Double Stacked Tacos in flavors Nacho Crunch, Cheesy Chipotle, and Sweet Scorpion.

Sadly, with so many new additions, there will also be a big loss on the Taco Bell menu. The Quesarito—a delicious combination of quesadilla and burrito—won't be available after April 19.
