Sharon Stone slams 'ignorant, arrogant' Americans after Donald Trump win

Sharon Stone is slamming Americans she characterizes as "uneducated."

Stone made a series of controversial comments about the state of American politics during a panel discussion at the Torino Film Festival in Italy, according to video footage posted Sunday on YouTube.

In an apparent reference to President-elect Donald Trump, Stone said, "We have to stop and think about who we choose for government and if, in fact, we are actually choosing our government or if the government is choosing itself."

Stone supported outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election earlier this month. She added: "You know, Italy has seen fascism. Italy has seen these things, you guys. And you understand what happens. You have seen this before."

Stone also told the crowd that "my country is in the midst of adolescence. Adolescence is very arrogant. Adolescence thinks it knows everything. Adolescence is naive and ignorant and arrogant. And we are in our ignorant, arrogant adolescence."

"Americans who don't travel, who 80% don't have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naïveté," Stone said. "What I would say is that the only way that we can help with these issues is to help each other."

In the Nov. 6 election, Trump beat Harris, executing a fully-fledged political comeback for a figure shrouded in years of controversy, winning every single battleground state that was up for grabs and the U.S. popular vote in the process.

Stone is known for her controversial viewpoints on topics in Hollywood, including her defense of friend and embattled actor Kevin Spacey. After Britain's Channel 4 released a documentary "Spacey Unmasked" that detailed sexual assault allegations leveled at the two-time Oscar winner earlier this year, Stone expressed her support for Spacey.

"I can't wait to see Kevin back at work. He is a genius. He is so elegant and fun, generous to a fault and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will," Stone told The Telegraph, adding that it's "terrible" that past aspiring actors "are blaming him for not being able to come to terms with themselves for using him."
