Josh Davila has maintained a mustache and beard for as long as his wife, Paige Robison, can remember.

He last sported a clean face nearly five years ago, just after he and Robison welcomed their daughter, Wren.

When Davila made the rare decision to shave it all off once again, Robison was sure to capture the moment their 4-year-old daughter saw his fresh look. Her loved reaction didn’t disappoint — in fact, it moved her father to tears.

Robison shared footage of the unexpectedly emotional exchange in a now-viral TikTok video, which starts with Wren’s jaw dropping at the sight of her dad’s bare face.

“Can you kiss me?” she asked in the clip, laughing along with her parents. Davila bent over to kiss his daughter’s cheek as she added, “It feels so soft.”

Wren continued to give her approval over Dad’s smooth skin, and his eyes welled up when she called him “so beautiful.”

The Connecticut-based mom tells PEOPLE that she figured her ever-enthusiastic child would show some support for Davila's new look — “Our daughter’s the type of kid that hypes everyone up,” she says — but neither parent expected Wren's effusive praise.

Robison was less surprised by her husband’s tears, since she says Davila has never been afraid to show his emotions, especially where their daughter is concerned.

“Wren has been making him cry over his love for her since day one,” she says. “But I have to say I wasn’t expecting him to tear up the way he did after she called him beautiful. I think we both just expected a good laugh!”

Within one day of its upload, the TikTok reached 1.8 million viewers and garnered over 268,000 likes. Social media users flocked to the comments to share their appreciation for the wholesome family moment, complimenting Wren and applauding Robison and Davila as great parents.

“The fact that she sees the beauty in her daddy, no matter what, means that you guys have raised her to see the beauty in everything!” one person commented.

Robison says she's received “nothing but positive” feedback, and she’s been moved by her audience’s heartfelt response to the 42-second clip.

“Someone mentioned that the video felt like it was helping heal their inner child which is something that will stick with me,” Robison tells PEOPLE. “To think a cute moment that we decided to record of our daughter could impact people so deeply is so special to us.”
