Chick-fil-A Alarms Customers With News It's Removing a Beloved Item From the Menu

Customers were in agreement that this is the best side item available.

Chick-fil-A fans are less than thrilled to hear about the latest menu change.

The fast food chain that specializes in chicken is reportedly discontinuing the side salad, a popular item consisting of a fresh bed of mixed greens with a blend of shredded Monterey Jack, Cheddar, along with red peppers and tomatoes.

The beloved side dish will be removed on April 3, according to a flier confirming the news to the public.

“We are spring cleaning here at Chick-fil-A and taking this opportunity to refresh our menu,” the caption of the post reads, along with an image of the flier titled, “A Fond Farewell.”

While the information was shared on the Tipton, Ohio chain page initially, TODAY confirmed with Chick-fil-A that the side salad is being removed from locations nationwide in order to simplify the menu.

“Serving guests is at the heart of all we do at Chick-fil-A,” a representative for Chick-fil-A, Inc. told the outlet, adding, “In order for our Restaurant Team Members to continue to deliver quality food and signature hospitality, at times we have to make difficult decisions to help simplify our menu. Starting April 3, the Chick-fil-A Side Salad will no longer be offered in our U.S. restaurants.”

The chain will reportedly inform customers of the upcoming menu change by giving out similar fliers whenever they order a side salad between now and the 3rd.

However, the messaging has already begun popping up on the social media pages of other locations.

Customers were understandably distraught by the shakeup, dismayed at the thought of losing one of their favorite side orders.

“This is so unfortunate. The side salad is literally part of my everyday order,” one Reddit user commented, as another lamented, “Of the past items that have been discontinued, this one hits me the most. It’s a decent salad for a meal vs. the entree ones which are really too large. I’ll get over it though.”

A third emphasized, “Their side salads are the best in the industry. So fresh and tasty dressing. What a loss.”

Another Twitter user noted this was just one of the many disappointing decisions: “Got rid of coleslaw, carrot salad, now this. No enjoyable sides left. Guess I'm done with Chick Fil-A.”

However, Chick-fil-A wants to help fill the void left behind by the removal of the side salad by increasing the size of the Kale Crunch Side to a larger one. It will join the other salad offerings currently available—the Cobb Salad, Spicy Southwest Salad, and Market Salad. Other standout sides include Waffle Potato Fries, a fruit cup, soup, and mac and cheese, among other things.

Earlier this year, Starbucks upset customers by announcing that it would be discontinuing the raspberry syrup, while Dunkin’ announced it would be retiring the Dunkaccino after 23 years.
