The Los Angeles County Coroner's office has just released Anne Heche's official cause of death.
According to the records, the actress died from "Inhalation and thermal injuries" along with a "sternal fracture due to blunt force trauma." The official cause makes sense, considering Heche was rushed to a hospital after crashing her vehicle into a home, resulting in a massive fire. Unfortunately, it appears Heche was unable to survive the injuries sustained from the fire itself and the impact of the accident.
At this point, the Coroner hasn't released the full autopsy report, which would indicate if Heche was under the influence during the deadly accident. Several reports surfaced following the incident, claiming she might have been high on cocaine or drinking alcohol before the crash. The shocking death is being ruled an "accident" by investigators.
Coroner: Anne Heche Died From Multiple Injuries Due To Car Accident, Fire
As we reported, Heche was seen flailing her arms and still conscious as she was being wheeled into an ambulance at the scene. A representative for the actress said she never regained consciousness after arriving at the hospital.
According to sources, LAPD tested the actress's blood that was drawn in the hospital and claim it contained cocaine and fentanyl. But, it's possible the fentanyl entered her bloodstream after it was used for pain management in the emergency room.
Following the accident, it was reported Anne had suffered major lung injuries during the crash. A video surfaced of the accident and showed the famous actress driving her Mini Cooper at an extremely high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood. In the end, she crashed into a house, igniting a huge fire.
"Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact," a representative said, three days after the accident.
