Clifton police searching for suspect who escaped custody while being taken to jail
Clifton police are searching for a suspect who escaped custody early Monday morning after being arrested on burglary and kidnapping charges.
Isaiah Felix, 20, of Passaic is at large after escaping from police custody while being taken to Passaic County Jail, according to Detective Lt. Robert Bracken. Felix got away when he arrived at the jail's entryway at 4 a.m. resulting in a foot chase, Bracken said.
The pursuit ran through the streets of Paterson before turning into a hours long yard-to-yard search that did not end up finding Felix. Further details on how Felix escaped were not available and Bracken did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Felix was arrested Sunday on charges related to burglary and kidnapping of a family member. He is from Passaic County with multiple addresses across the region. He has ties to the Richfield Village apartments at St. Andrews Boulevard in Clifton.
Clifton Police Department reported him as last seen wearing bright yellow Crocs.
