Cleveland Clinic Akron General names emergency building after Hudson couple
Cleveland Clinic Akron General will name its emergency building after a Hudson couple who have gifted the health system $5 million.
Richard C. Fedorovich, a Cleveland Clinic board member, and his wife, Lisa, have committed $5 million to Cleveland Clinic and Akron General.
The couple will also be honored with a sitting room at a Cleveland Clinic facility.
“Rick Fedorovich’s leadership as Akron General board chairman helped bring Akron General and Cleveland Clinic together in 2015,” said Cleveland Clinic CEO and President Dr. Tom Mihaljevic in a press release. “As a result of this successful integration, we’ve been able to serve more patients in northeast Ohio and develop Akron General as one of the region’s top hospitals.”
Fedorovich serves on the board of trustees of Cleveland Clinic and the Akron General Health System board of directors and was chairman from 2003 to 2010. He is the executive chairman of the Northeast Ohio-based accounting firm Bober Markey Fedorovich.
“It has been rewarding to see Akron General expand services and become a leader in quality and safety since joining Cleveland Clinic,” Fedorovich said. “With this donation, Lisa and I hope to support both Cleveland Clinic and Akron General in caring for patients in northeast Ohio for years to come.”
Cleveland Clinic’s investment in Akron General included a new emergency department, which opened in 2018. In recognition of the Fedoroviches’ gift, Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s emergency building will be named in their honor.
“Naming our emergency building in honor of Lisa and Rick is a fitting tribute to one of the key leaders in helping Akron General become a Cleveland Clinic hospital,” said Akron General President Dr. Brian Harte. "We are grateful to Rick for his vision, leadership and generosity.”
On the Cleveland campus, the Cole Eye Institute Chairman’s Suite Sitting Room will also be named in the couple's honor. Lisa Fedorovich said the care she has received at the Cole Eye Institute "has helped me immensely, and we want to ensure physicians have the resources to continue to innovate and provide the highest quality care for patients."
Lisa serves on the board of trustees of Hathaway Brown School, Hope for Henry (Ohio) and the Musical Arts Association, operating the Cleveland Orchestra, where she is a member of the chorus. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her career includes two international law firms and McKinsey & Co.
