CHEBOYGAN — Citizens National Bank has donated $2,000 to support the 2023 Access to the Arts program at the Cheboygan Opera House.

This annual program of the Cheboygan Area Arts Council brings high-quality artists to the Opera House for a free performance just for kids.

The program will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Students from the Cheboygan Intermediate School and the Cheboygan Middle School will be bussed to the theater to participate in this free concert.

Artrageous will perform at the 2023 Access to the Arts program on April 20.

The featured artist for the 2023 Access to the Arts program is Artrageous, a troupe of performers who combine dance, music and visual arts into a single, interactive live concert experience.

“The Access to Arts program has been a marquee event at the Opera House for over 30 years,” said Owen Goslin, executive director of the Cheboygan Area Arts Council. “We are grateful to Citizens National Bank for being our major sponsor ever since the inception of this program. As a result of their support, generations of Northern Michigan children have been able to attend inspiring creative events at the Opera House. For many kids this is their first experience attending a live theatrical performance.”

The general public is invited to purchase tickets to this approximately 1.5 hour show, which includes live rock music, dance, live visual arts, and interactive audience participation. One lucky ticket holder will also win a painting created on stage during the show.
