Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow outside top 5 of NFL's 'Top 100' list
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was named a top-10 player in the NFL by his peers in the finale of the league's "Top 100" series Monday night.
Burrow, who won NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 and led the Bengals to the Super Bowl, appeared No. 6 on the list this year. He was No. 21 in 2022. Ja'Marr Chase won Offensive Rookie of the Year the same season.
The fourth-year quarterback joined teammates Chase (No. 36) and Trey Hendrickson (No. 75) on the list this season. He also has been sidelined since the first week of training camp with a calf strain. The team has had no official update on Burrow's status, but Chase said he told the quarterback to make sure he's completely healthy before returning.
Burrow threw for 4,475 yards last season with 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading the Bengals to the AFC championship game for the second consecutive season.
The Bengals open their preseason schedule Friday against the Green Bay Packers and the two teams will have a joint practice Wednesday.
Cincinnati opens the regular season Sept. 10 on the road against the Cleveland Browns.
