Chrysler Airflow Graphite Concept shown in black, copper at New York auto show
Chrysler's Airflow Concept, an electric vehicle that caught headlines when it debuted in Las Vegas as industry critics compared it to Ford's popular Mustang Mach-E, will also come in black.
Stellantis unveiled a new Graphite version of the Chrysler brand's electric concept vehicle Wednesday as part of the 2022 New York International Auto Show.
The Graphite version features a Galaxy Black exterior with Cyprus Copper accents "inside and out" to showcase a "sleek, refined new personality," the company said in a news release.
It's still not clear how close the vehicle being shown, which features a panoramic roof, will resemble the first all-electric Chrysler model, but the company is clearly pitching the Airflow as the future direction of the brand. The vehicle, which has been called "more than a pure concept," was unveiled with a white exterior at CES in January.

In the news release, Chrysler Brand CEO Christine Feuell said "the latest version of our all-electric concept, represents the many possibilities on our brand’s road to an all-electric future. This new persona of the Airflow highlights the flexibility of the Chrysler brand’s future design direction and our ability to create personalities reflective of our diverse customers."
The company also said it's reinforcing its earlier commitment to launch Chrysler's first battery electric vehicle by 2025 and to having a fully electric portfolio by 2028.
In January, Feuell told the Free Press that "a lot of the design cues and the integrated technologies that you see in the Airflow will be included in that new vehicle" and that a utility vehicle would be added to the portfolio, but she wouldn't commit to saying the Airflow would actually be the brand's first battery electric vehicle.
The Airflow, a name pulled from a legendary Chrysler model of the 1930s, would offer Level 3 autonomous driving, described by AuroForecast Solutions as a car able to operate on its own in a traffic jam with the driver ready to intervene. That technology and others, designed to enable "an extension of digital, work and home environments," would be able to receive over-the-air updates.
The company said the battery should deliver up to 400 miles of range on a charge. The vehicle would be powered by two 150-kilowatt electric drive motors, one in the front and one in the rear, to maximize interior space and enable the large, 22-inch wheel size and wide stance, the release said.
The concept, which would be capable of all-wheel drive, would also be able to accommodate larger electric drive motors to allow future high-performance variations, the release said.
