Chickasaw Park shooting: What we know about Louisville's second mass shooting
A second mass shooting in Louisville left two people dead and at least four others injured late Saturday evening at Chickasaw Park.
The weekend shooting at Chickasaw Park follows another mass shooting Monday shooting at the downtown branch of Old National Bank that killed six people, including the shooter. There have been 162 mass shootings in the U.S. in 2023, according to the Gun Violence Archive, and 50 in the commonwealth since 2014.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg called Chickasaw Park shooting a "reckless act" that was part of "an unspeakable week of tragedy for our city," in a press conference streamed by WHAS11 following the incident.

What happened at Chickasaw Park on Saturday?
Around 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening, MetroSafe received a call that multiple people had been shot after someone opened fire into a crowd of hundreds, LMPD Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said. When officers arrived, they discovered at least two people dead from gunshot wounds. Four others were taken to University of Louisville Hospital.
As of Sunday morning, one adult woman and three adult men had been treated at the hospital. One of them was admitted in critical condition and underwent surgery and then upgraded to critical but stable condition. One victim was released from the hospital.
Who was injured in the Chickasaw Park shooting?
Two people were killed and the four injured include an adult woman and three adult men, officials said. None of the victims' identities were released as of Monday morning.
How many people died from shootings over the weekend in Louisville?
At least five people have died from shootings that occurred Saturday and Sunday.
Two people were killed in a shooting around 4:30 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of East Burnett. A man was pronounced dead at the scene while another man and a woman were taken to University of Louisville Hospital where the male victim was pronounced dead. One of the victims was identified as Jamal Malone, 28. The second has not been identified.
Sunday, officers responded to the 1000 block of Bardstown Road just before 4:30 a.m., where they found Keionte’ L. Ramsey had sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to U of L Hospital, where he later died.
