CenterPoint outages continue for thousands in Evansville, surrounding areas
EVANSVILLE — CenterPoint's outage map showed more than 3,700 customers without power around 4 p.m. Friday.
Multiple rounds of storms came through Evansville and neighboring cities Thursday, resulting in a loss of power and some damage for residents.
The latest update from CenterPoint came Friday afternoon and warned customers to "be prepared to be without power into the weekend."
Workers would continue efforts to restore power, as well as fix damaged polls and downed wires. But continued weather events, like expected high winds, would cause the outage count to fluctuate, according to a news release.
The National Weather Service announced Friday morning there would be the possibility of both "dangerous heat and strong to severe thunderstorms" Friday and Saturday.

"Heat indices could range from 105 to 115 degrees in some locations, but some of the heat may be mitigated by storms," the NWS said.
The NWS reminded residents in a news release to drink plenty of fluids and take breaks in the air conditioning, if they have it, if they are spending time outside.
"Check on neighbors, relatives, and the elderly," the release states. "Don’t leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles. If possible, reschedule strenuous outdoor activities."
