Celtics injury update: Al Horford OUT vs. New York Knicks (11/5)

In what seems to be keeping with a plan to get veteran Boston Celtics big man Al Horford rest to keep him fresh for the 2023 NBA Playoffs, the Florida alumnus will sit tonight in the Celtics’ road tilt against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Officially listed as out due to “low back stiffness” along with fellow frontcourt denizens Robert Williams III (recuperating from arthroscopic surgery on his knee) and Danilo Gallinari (healing after a torn ACL). Unlike Timelord and Gallo, however, Horford is not likely to miss more than this game unless the back tightness he is being held out for is more than just a precautionary measure to keep his legs beneath him in the postseason.

Horford is averaging 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game with the Celtics so far this season in 31.4 minutes played per contest.
