The winning team consisted of West Ottawa senior Charlotte Binkley, Holland Christian junior Claire Helder, Zeeland West junior Ali Rathjen, Zeeland East junior Nicole VanDyke, Jenison senior Liz Russell and Unity Christian senior BayLeigh Watson.

Instructor Tony McCaul said students monitor and raise chickens for five weeks.

“While working with the birds, students learn through the hands-on experience all 11 growth factors, including feed, proper temperature and health status through record keeping,” McCaul wrote in a statement. “I am very proud of this team. They worked extremely hard and followed our industry standards in raising birds and it paid off with being named the state winner.”
