Cape Cod weather forecast: What to expect this weekend
It's time to reach into the weather proverb bin and pull out this dusty gem: "Half a loaf is better than none." That about sums it up for the weekend to come.
Before we get there, our journey through Friday will take place under partly sunny skies, interrupted by a goodly portion of high clouds, a concoction that the National Weather Service forecast discussion calls "filtered sunshine." It almost sounds like the name of a craft beer!
Clouds will start to win the battle on Friday night, gradually blossoming into rain on Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service sees it this way: "Active weather on Saturday into early Sunday with a wintry mix across the interior and higher terrain, with a cold rain elsewhere." Temperatures will drop into the 30s on Saturday night as the rain continues, accompanied by gusts up to 37 mph.
Sunday lives up to its name
Thus, rain-grumpy Cape Codders will arise Sunday with a chip on their shoulders. But fear not, mostly sunny skies will take over in the morning, giving us the chance to take a hike or do some garden planning. There will be a fairly stiff west wind as part of the package — one way to avoid that is taking a beach walk below the big dunes of the Outer Cape, which will likely shield you from the breeze.
Relive past storms and learn what forecasters do

Pop some popcorn, get your weather nerd on and see how forecasters do their thing!
