Brooklyn Pickle coming to Utica: Opening day revealed, plus an addition to the menu
Brooklyn Pickle has announced the opening of its new Utica location.
The restaurant, which was previously planned to open in March, will welcome customers for the first time at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17.
Located at 600 State St. in Utica, in the former Utica Steam Cotton building, Brooklyn Pickle will serve sandwiches, giant subs, salads, homemade soups and desserts for indoor dining and takeout.
The Utica location marks the fourth establishment — the other three are in Syracuse — for the Syracuse-based chain, which opened in 1975.
Utica's Brooklyn Pickle the first to sell beer
The new deli restaurant in Utica brings a unique new addition: It will be the first Brooklyn Pickle establishment to sell beer.
“The City of Utica is excited to become the new home of the Brooklyn Pickle,” said Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri in a statement. “Utica’s diverse culinary offerings are part of what we’re known for, and the Brooklyn Pickle will be a staple of our food scene for years to come. We’re excited about our growth Downtown, we’re happy the Brooklyn Pickle has made Utica home and we look forward to the great food in an awesome setting.”
Brooklyn Pickle’s Utica manager, Dan Ryan, has a longtime association with the company, and has been "part of the Pickle on and off" since he was 16, according to a restaurant news release.
What to expect at Brooklyn Pickle in Utica
Brooklyn Pickle President Craig Kowadla said the restaurant fare will be similar to the Syracuse locations.
Customers can also expect a daily specials board, and will find the specials posted on Facebook and Instagram. Orders can be placed in person, by calling (315) 624-0300, or at BrooklynPickle.com.
“People have been trying to catch glimpses of what to expect from this new location and they won’t be disappointed!” Kowadla said in a statement. "We’ll have exposed brick and stone, a neon sign, a Brooklyn Bridge wall-wrap and high-top chess and backgammon tables.”
