Broncos are signing Lamar Jackson (no, not that one)

The same week they are set to play the Baltimore Ravens, the Denver Broncos are set to sign Lamar Jackson.

Yes, you read that right. No, it’s not that Lamar Jackson.

Denver is signing the 24-year-old cornerback who shares a name with the star Ravens quarterback, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero first reported Tuesday.

The other Jackson (6-2, 208 pounds) will join the Broncos’ practice squad. He is a third-year cornerback who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska with the New York Jets in 2020.

Jackson played in 14 games in two seasons with the Jets, totaling 28 tackles. After ending the 2021 season on New York’s practice squad, Jackson signed a reserve/future contract with the Chicago Bears for 2022.

He played in five games with the Bears earlier this year (primarily on special teams) before being waived. Jackson now lands in Denver to provide more depth at cornerback on the Broncos’ practice squad.
