Brock Purdy, other former Iowa State football players stood out in Week 2 of the NFL season

We're through Week 2 of the NFL season, and multiple former Iowa State players made an impact on the field on Sunday.

Brock Purdy was again the headliner in San Francisco's comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams, while David Montgomery delivered a nice showing in the Detroit Lions in their overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Here's a full rundown of former Cyclones in the NFL from Week 2.

It wasn't the smoothest showing for the Niners, who were tied at halftime and owned just a three-point lead going to the fourth quarter before pulling away for a 30-23 win. But Purdy was solid when it mattered.

The former Iowa State quarterback finished 17-for-25 passing for 206 yards to go with three carries for five yards and a rushing touchdown. The passing attack was pretty evenly spread around, with four players hauling in at least three catches apiece.

So far, so good this season for Purdy and company. He'll look to make it 3-0 Thursday night against the New York Giants.

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery scored for the second straight week, this time in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Before suffering a thigh injury that could keep him sidelined for a "couple weeks", according to Montgomery, he piled up 16 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown to go with one catch for seven yards. His 4-yard scoring run gave Detroit a touchdown lead midway through the third quarter before Seattle rallied for a 37-31 overtime win.

While the Lions do have some running back depth with Jahmyr Gibbs, any lengthy absence from Montgomery isn't a good thing for the Lions. Detroit hosts the Atlanta Falcons next week.
