Broadway actress and Grammy nominee Alexandra Silber to speak at Mancini Awards in Midland

MIDLAND – Actress, author and Grammy nominee Alexandra Silber will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2023 Henry Mancini Awards this Sunday at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.

The Mancini Awards celebrate excellence in high school musical theater in Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties and are a participant in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Sunday's ceremony is at 7 p.m.

Silber appeared in the 2016 Broadway revival of "Fiddler on the Roof" as Tzeitel,” and shows like "Hello Again," "Master Class," "The Lucky Star," "The Halfgod of Rainfall," "Einstein’s Dreams," "Song of Norway" and "Arlington," and in London’s West End she played starring roles in "Indecent," "The Woman in White," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Kiss Me Kate" and "Carousel." She is a Grammy nominee for her portrayal of “Maria” in the San Francisco Symphony recording of "West Side Story." She is the author of the novel "After Anatevka” and her memoir "White Hot Grief Parade.”

“Her accomplishments in the world of performing arts go beyond the stage and serve as an inspiration to the hundreds of young aspiring artists that will be present for the ceremony in a celebration of high school musical theatre,” Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center producing artistic director Justin Fortunato said.

A program of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland since 2014, all schools in the quad-county region were invited to participate, with 16 schools joining this year. Those schools were Ambridge Area High School, Beaver County Christian School, Big Beaver Falls Area High School, Central Valley High School, Freedom Area High School, Freeport Senior High School, Hopewell High School, Knoch High School, Mars Area High School, New Brighton High School, New Castle High School, North Catholic High School, Riverside High School, Slippery Rock High School, South Side High School, and Western Beaver Jr./Sr. High School.

Freeport High School garnered the most nominations, with a dozen, followed by Riverside High School with 11.
