Bring your basket to these Muncie Easter egg hunts

MUNCIE, Ind. — As Easter approaches, kids (and even dogs) can enjoy Easter egg hunts and related activities around East Central Indiana:

Summit Lake State Park will host an "Easter Bunny Hop’n Go" event 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 9, at 5993 N. Messick Road, New Castle. DIY Easter Egg Hunting kits will be provided for the first 100 kids (any age) who enter the park. Participants can use the kits to create their own egg hunts in the park.

Albany Health and Rehabilitation will have an Easter egg hunt offering prizes, raffles, sweet treats and a chance to meet the Easter bunny noon-2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at 910 W. Walnut Drive, Albany.

Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 10450 S. Delaware County Road 544-E, Selma, will have a 20,000-egg Easter egg hunt at 6 p.m. April 13. Bounce houses and a grab-and-go dinner also will be offered.

Grace Baptist Church, 6401 W. River Road, Muncie, will have a community Easter egg hunt for kids ages 2-11 at 11 a.m. April 16 on the church's north soccer field, offering food, inflatables and door prizes. Everyone is welcome. Kids will hunt eggs by age groups.

Friendly dogs, along with their families, are invited to the Dog-Diggity Easter Egg Hunt on April 17 at McCulloch Park. The event hosted by Sit-Stay-Play, Fur in Focus Pet Portraits and Diamond Organics, will benefit Muncie Animal Care and Services. Participants are asked to donate $5 per adult or five cans or a five-pound bag of pet food; cleaning supplies or other pet supplies can be donated as well.

Activities will include:

  • 11 a.m.-noon: Special Easter area for low-sensory individuals (children and adults).

  • 12:15-12:45 p.m.: Children's egg hunts (separate areas for ages 6 and younger, and ages 7 older).

  • 1-1:30 p.m.: Family egg hunt

  • 1:30-2 p.m. Dog Easter egg hunt (separate areas for dogs under 25 lbs and dogs over 26 lbs,),

  • 2:15-2:30 p.m.: Best Dressed Easter Parade (dogs and humans).

  • 2:30-3 p.m.: Super Scooper Game and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Dogs must remain on regular six-foot leashes (no retractable leashes) the entire time they're at the park. Owners should take along bags to clean up after their own dogs. Pre-registration/information: sit-stay-play.com/muncies-best-easter-event
