Brian Sneed promoted as next Pope John Paul II football coach
Brian Sneed, a Pope John Paul II graduate, has been promoted as the school's next football coach.
Sneed is a 2006 JPII graduate and was a multi-sport athlete. He was the Knights' defensive coordinator this past season under coach Justin Geisinger, who left for the same position at Franklin Road Academy.
"The seamless hand-off to Coach Sneed as head coach enables a smooth transition and keeps us in a great position to maintain momentum," said Pope John Paul II head of school Mike Deely.
JPII went 8-5 in 2021, reaching the Division II-AAA semifinals, and returns quarterback Kenny Minchey, a three-star quarterback.
Sneed has been a teacher and football coach at JPII off and on since 2012. He spent 2013-15 at his college alma mater Centre College as a football assistant before returning to JPII in 2016 as an assistant athletics director and assistant football coach.
"Justin has been really good to me," Sneed said. "We've worked together on a lot of things. He let me see the past six years kind of some of the stuff he does as the head coach and bounce ideas off me back and forth."
