Brewers' Willy Adames exits game after being struck by a foul ball in the dugout
Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames exited Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants after being struck by a foul ball in the bottom of the second inning.
Adames avoided any fractures, Brewers manager Craig Counsell said after the game, and was alert and responsive the whole time. He will be kept at the hospital overnight for monitoring and it is anticipated he will be released Saturday morning.
An injured list stint will be forthcoming for Adames, who suffered a concussion.
"We got pretty good news at the hospital, too," Counsell said. "Obviously he’s in pain. But I think overall I think not bad news considering how scary it was.”

Adames was perched atop the top step of the Brewers dugout along the first-base line, hanging up by the railing, when Brian Anderson lined a pitch from Giants pitcher Alex Wood directly toward the dugout.
Video from the third-base side of the field showed that the ball appeared to strike Adames in the side of the head. Adames' head was turned to his right before the pitch was thrown; he then appeared to shift his vision back toward the plate right as Anderson swung.
“You heard it," Counsell said. "I heard it and I knew it hit somebody. I didn’t know who it hit but I knew it hit somebody. Willy didn’t really react that much initially, to be honest with you. He just went and sat down. Then you realized what happened, and then it was really scary.”
Adames received attention from the Brewers medical staff for roughly two minutes in the dugout before retreating into the clubhouse for further treatment.
Brice Turang replaced Adames at shortstop the inning immediately following the incident.
