Braxton Plunk, Wayne Ruby Jr. and Carson Barrett top Raiders as D3football All-Americans

Seven players from Mount Union were selected to the D3football.com All-America team.

Senior quarterback Braxton Plunk, senior wide receiver Wayne Ruby Jr. and senior guard Carson Barrett earned first team selections on offense. Sophomore linebacker Rossy Moore was named to the second team on defense, while senior defensive tackle Duke Hill and senior defensive back Derrick Bradley earned spots on the third team defense and senior running back DeAndre Parker was selected to the fourth team offense.

Plunk, from Plant City, Fla., was also selected as the first team quarterback on the AFCA and AP All-America teams, led Division III in in passing yards (4,551) and was tied for first in points responsible for (342). Plunk was just four passing yards away from tying a school season record. His 50 passing touchdowns ranked second in the nation.

Plunk was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, won by North Central running back Ethan Greenfield on Friday prior to the Stagg Bowl.

Ruby, who was first team on the AP squad and second team on the AFCA team, led Division III in receiving yards (1,785) and receiving touchdowns (30), both school records. Ruby was one receiving touchdown away from tying the Division III record.

Barrett was one of the anchors of the offensive line of one of the top offenses in the country. This marked Barrett's first All-America honor.
