Boys basketball: BCANY, OCIAA all-stars for 2022-23 season
Valley Central senior Raysean Johnson, Goshen senior Jaidyn Rutling, Burke Catholic junior Jack O’Boyle and Chapel Field junior Jonah McDuffie were named the respective Section 9 basketball players of the year in each of the four classes determined by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, as selected by member coaches.
Johnson (Division 1 and 2), Rutling (Div. 3) and McDuffie (Div. 6) received the same honors from the coaches in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association. Alex Bastian of Chester (Div. 4) and Gavin Clark of Tri-Valley (Div. 5) were also divisional players of the year.
Girls basketball: BCANY, OCIAA all-stars for 2022-23 season
Coach of the year honors for BCANY and the OCIAA went to Jim Kelly of Middletown, Sal D’Angelo of Goshen, Pat Harris of Burke Catholic and Brad McDuffie of Chapel Field. Debra Crowe of O’Neill and Bill Steele of S.S. Seward were honored by the OCIAA divisional coaches.
