Bob Barker's Girlfriend Gives Health Update on His 99th Birthday
The beloved 'Price Is Right' host celebrated a milestone birthday.
Bob Barker, the beloved Price Is Right host, celebrated his 99th birthday on Monday.
His longtime partner, Nancy Burnet, gave Fox News Digital an update on his health ahead of the milestone celebration.
"He's going to be 99, and he takes one prescription medication and that's for his thyroid," the 79-year-old revealed.
"And his health care or anyone who comes in to see him, they'll say, 'Well, we'd like a list of his medications,’” she said, joking adding, "I'll say, you know, let me just show you the bottle.
"That's it. So, he does not take anything for blood pressure, cholesterol, the umpteen other things that most people take as they grow older,” she explained, adding that he remains in “very good health for his age," which she credited to a full vegan meal supplement years ago to compliment his vegetarian lifestyle.
She also noted that “his humor is still in good shape,” stating, “he’s had a very charmed life.”
As for how the couple planned to celebrate the big day, Burnet said they would be keeping things “simple and quiet” with a celebration at home with “cake and the usual things.”
The retired TV host was best known for hosting the CBS game show from 1972 to 2007, which earned him 14 Daytime Emmy Awards, including four Emmys as the executive producer of what remains the longest-running game show in history. He also served as host on Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975.
Burnet said Barker speaks fondly of his time on the show, adding that he “never grew tired or it” or “bored with it.”
"So maybe that's why it was so successful because he was always ready to do it and happy to do it,” she suggested, adding that his favorite episodes were when something went wrong because he could play off of it and “make light of it.”
She also noted another of his favorite memories was when Vanna White was a contestant before she became a game show icon of her own on Wheel of Fortune.
