Bills told Dawson Knox before 2023 NFL draft that Dalton Kincaid was an option
If possible, the plan for the Buffalo Bills at the 2023 NFL draft was to get a one-two punch at tight end on offense.
Exactly that happened, and even Dawson Knox knew that was the objective.
During spring practices, Knox revealed that he knew the Bills were going to target tight end Dalton Kincaid in the first round. The team ended up landing him with the 25th overall selection.
“They actually told me before the draft even happened that was a possibility,” Knox said via videoconference. “After hearing like, what we’re going to be focused on if that was the pick? I was super excited for it.”
Maybe even more than excited. Knox acknowledged he was even hoping Kincaid would fall to Buffalo during the draft.
“In the back of my mind I was kind of hoping he didn’t get picked,” Knox said.
As one can easily tell, Knox is all in on the Bills’ plan to use two-TE sets next season. Probably for good reason based on general manager Brandon Beane’s thoughts.
“Dawson’s still gonna be very involved,” Beane said following the draft. “We think (Kincaid will) pair well with Dawson and give us another target.”
The Bills are already starting to get the ball rolling on that idea at spring practices.
