Bills’ Taron Johnson on Dolphins’ speed: Be physical
If speed kills, what can the Buffalo Bills do?
Taron Johnson has an idea.
The Bills’ upcoming opponent, the Miami Dolphins (3-0) have a lot of it. Potentially more than any other team in the NFL. Buffalo (2-1) has to be ready.
In preparation, Johnson’s insight into how to handle that was different than one might expect.
The Bills cornerback said trying to play a track meet might not be a good idea. Instead, the thought is to get in their way.
“It’s definitely tough,” Johnson said. “Physical. Being physical [slows down speed].”
And doing that goes into the game plan for each and every play. Head coach Sean McDermott noted how Miami have the ability to turn what some might think will be a two-yard gain into a touchdown.
“Very good,” McDermott said via video conference. “They’re as advertised. They’re explosive, anybody that touches the ball can score.”
