Bills’ Josh Allen called plays on sideline in preseason opener vs. Colts
Josh Allen did not play in the Buffalo Bills’ preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
Allen still had a say in how things turned out.
Following the 23-19 win, quarterback Matt Barkley revealed that Allen took a spin at being an offensive coordinator — kind of.
Barkley said that during parts of the second half, Allen was the one picking and choosing the plays on the sideline. Offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey stayed on the microphone, Allen made some of the selections.
“Dorse and Josh were dialing up some plays today,” Barkley said via video conference. “It was a lot of fun.”
Among the plays Allen called for turned into a touchdown, Barkley said one of his two touchdown passes which went to receiver Dezmon Patmon was amongst the plays dialed up by Allen.
Barkley still wanted his share of the credit, though… or didn’t want QB1 to have it.
“I don’t want to give too much credit here,” Barkley joked.
Even Kyle Allen got in on the fun.
Allen ended up not calling plays in the first half, however, he still poked a little fun at his teammate being the play caller.
“Nah, he’s a second half play caller, no first half for him–Only when it matters,” Kyle Allen said.
