Big rig driver who crashed into Nashville home in 2021 indicted on 45 counts
The driver of a big rig that slammed into a Nashville home in 2021 was arrested Thursday after a grand jury indictment resulted in 45 charges connected to the crash.
Abdalla Arbo, 41, was driving the tractor trailer in the Donelson area on June 24, 2021 when a Honda Accord turned into the big rig's path, according to police. Arbo swerved but struck the Honda, a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Ford Escape before slamming into the garage of a home at the corner of Wanda Drive and Elm Hill Pike.
Four people, including Arbo, were injured. No one was inside the home at the time of the crash.
Investigators from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Metro Nashville Police Department found falsified logbooks and unreported brake issues with the vehicle, according to a Metro police news release.
Arbo is charged with 32 counts of forgery and multiple motor carrier safety rules violations, in addition to two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by reckless driving and five counts of reckless endangerment by a motor vehicle.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
