Emmys 2019: Kim Kardashian-West and Kendall Jenner met with awkward laughter during ceremony
Kim Kardashian-West and Kendall Jenner were among the many celebrities roped in to present awards at the host-free Emmys on Sunday night.
But the reality stars probably won’t be feeling too happy with the reaction their appearance received.
The two ladies were tasked with giving out the Outstanding reality TV series accolade and given their years in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it’s fair to say the women know a lot about the genre.
However, Kardashian-West’s introduction of the category resulted in raised eyebrows and unexpected laughter.
Kim K: “Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves..."
Audience: *laughs*

“Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves,” Kim said.
The response in the room was soon noticed by fans watching at home:
DID THE AUDIENCE JUST LAUGH AT KIM KARDASHIAN SAYING “Real people telling real stories about themselves” at the #Emmys?!?
I truly thought I heard them laugh at her for that line. Y’all so shady 😂— Shem (@Shem)
There was awkward audience laughter when Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner said their family tells their stories "unfiltered and unscripted." Yikes. #Emmys2019 pic.twitter.com/H6XH3g6L1L

Judging from their two stars' faces, the laughter could be heard on stage.
The evening also saw celebrities including Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel presenting awards.
Meanwhile, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Chernobyl and Marvellous Mrs. Maisel led the winners.
After triumphing for writing Fleabag - shortly before picking up another Emmy for starring in it - Waller-Bridge joked: “I’d like to say just honestly, from the bottom of my heart, that the reason that I do it is this."
