The Athens Area Humane Society unveiled a new mural on the side of its facility on Nov. 3, that showcases the art of David Hale.

The 13 foot by 32 foot artwork is located on the north wall of the center that opened earlier this year at 1030 Mitchell Bridge Road.

Hale, an illustrator, muralist and tattoo artist who owns Love Hawk Studio, also has wall murals in downtown Athens. According to the Humane Society, Hale’s work is inspired by nature and Native American symbology.

The Shelter’s mural is named "Homemakers."

“David’s inspired creation, which he aptly named 'Homemakers, energizes our campus with a stunning collage of color and whimsy that celebrates the bond between people and animals and the power of pets to transform any house into a home,” Humane Society CEO Cheryl McCormick said.

“I hope this mural can act as a giant ‘thank you’ note to the people who work for and support the Humane Society in its efforts, and most importantly give compassionate care to the furry creatures we are so blessed to have in our homes, families, and hearts,” Hale said.
